One of Swami Gitananda Giri’s American students had joined his course in Pondicherry in the early 1970s. She had left the US after some preliminary tests and while in India received news through the post that she had been diagnosed with cancer. A young, famous ballerina, and someone who had immense determination and dedication to being healthy, she decided to immerse herself in intensive yoga practices for a full year at the Ananda Ashram and to take things as they came when she returned home. To her surprise, when she returned and was re-tested, there were no signs of any cancer at all.
